Should You Wear a Mask to Prevent Coronavirus or COVID-19
Time : 2020-04-11

1. Why we should wear masks?

Before that, we need to know how the virus spreads and How far do coughs and sneezes travel?

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets.

According to research by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, it’s not just the person next to us we should worry about: coughing spreads droplets as far as six metres, and sneezing as much as eight metres. These droplets stay suspended in the air for up to 10 minutes.

Therefore, it is important to keep social distance, wear masks and wash hands frequently.

2. Do everyone need to wear a mask?

Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days. coronavirus can spread one to three days before symptoms start

It's Estimated 1 in 4 Coronavirus Carriers Could Be Asymptomatic And there is asymptomatic transmission of the coronavirus disease. How do you know you are not a carrier, how do you know the person you are talking with is not a carrier.
